I have decided to take part in #JuneBBC: June Beauty Blog Challenge. The idea is that you write a beauty themed post everyday for the month of June! Today’s theme is ‘Most Recent Beauty Buy’
I really had to rack my brains to think about this one, because I have been on a STRICT budget recently in relation to beauty products and cosmetics! Then I remember that I attended a summer-themed event at LA Creative about two weeks ago and while I was there I made some naughty purchases! So in this post I will talk about my recent purchases but I’ll also fill you in about LA Creative and the event!
Keren Koster attended the event, along with men in skimpy shorts
I had never been to LA Creative’s store (just off Grafton Street) before, but I had talked to them on Twitter and they told me they sell Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner, which is supposed to be brilliant. When I received the invitation to the LA Creative Summer Style event I decided to kill two birds with one stone! The store itself is quite small. As you walk into the shop your eyes are drawn to the Essie and Ciate varnish stands, and then you see a wide variety of LA Creative makeup, they carry their own makeup line which I didn’t know! As well as the nail varnishes and makeup, there is a little nail bar table propped in the corner where girls were getting an Essie manicure done! Moving downstairs, you’ll find makeup artist stations, a threading station, extremely comfy looking pedicure stations and a room off the main area for waxing and other treatments.
Makeup artist SJ gave a gorgeous summer look tutorial
Xpose colleagues SJ and Karen talked through some of LA’s beauty products
I had a nice evening and my favourite part by far was watching the amazingly talented Sarah Jane Wai O Flynn (of Xpose) talk us through some makeup demonstrations. She even freshened up my makeup for me (which I had very sloppily applied on the way as I was running late!). Now, on to the purchases!
LA Creative Micro Melon Lipstick (€15)
One of the lipsticks Sarah Jane used on a model first, and then on me, was called Micro Melon, and it’s a gorgeous burnt orange colour. Perfect for summer! I love wearing colours like this with fake tan and a lot of bronzer! It’s the first LA Creative lipstick I have bought and so far I am quite happy with the unique colour (see picture below) and the quality.
Sarah Jane used LA Creative Lipstick Micro Melon on my lips and I subsequently bought it!
Cinema Secrets Professional Brush Cleaner (€18.50)
The main reason I was heading to LA Creative was to pick up the “World’s Best Brush Cleaner”, i.e. Cinema Secrets. I haven’t gotten a chance to use it yet, but everyone I have asked, be it blogger or makeup artist, have said it’s a fantastic brush cleaner.
Ciate Caviar Manicure Mother of Pearl
The sheer amount and selection of Ciate and Essie varnishes on show at LA Creative was very impressive, but the minute I saw the Ciate Caviar Manicure set in the beautiful white Mother of Pearl I knew I just had to have it! I cannot wait to have a go at this – I will definitely be doing a review post!
